AGS(Automatic Generating System).

Seiko released AGS in 1988. AGS stands for Automatic Generating System, but it was renamed as Kinetic in 1997. Although it is the first self-winding electricity generating quartz wrist watch of the world, there have been problems in mechanics, and in the end there was a feeling of convergence by renaming. (The similar system watches from Swatch also released an inexpensive watch.) After that, they released a new watch of the system called Spring Drive in 1999.


AGSはセイコーが1988年に発売した。AGSとはAutomatic Generating Systemの略だが、1997年にキネティックに名称変更された。世界初の自動巻き発電クォーツ腕時計ではあるが、機構的に不具合が続出し、最終的には名称変更をすることで収束を図った感があった。(スウォッチの安価なもので同様なシステムの時計も発売された。)その後、1999年に新たにスプリングドライブをリリースした。

Water resistant.

Even waterproof watches should not be excessively exposed to the threat of water. If you operate the watch crown or button with moisture adhering, water enters inside the watch. If you take a bath while wearing a watch, ingredients such as steam, soap, hot springs will discolor and corrode the metal, and the packing will be deteriorated. If you wash your hands directly from the faucet, watering the watch causes waterproof failure because tap water has high water pressure. The watch is sometimes cloudy due to the temperature difference between the outside air and the inside of the watch. It will not be a problem if it is temporary. 防水時計であっても、過度に水の脅威に晒すことはさけなければならない。 水分が付着したまま、リューズやボタンを操作する。(時計内部に水が入る。)時計を着用したまま入浴する。(蒸気・石鹸・温泉の成分などが金属を変色・腐食させたり、パッキンの劣化を早める。)手を洗う際に直接蛇口から水をかける。(水道水は水圧が高いため、防水不良を引き起こす。) 外気と時計内部の温度差によりくもりが生じることがあるが、一時的なものであれば問題ない。

Watch storage location.

Even when you removing the watch, you keep it in a place not affected by magnetism. When you placed the watch on a TV, a refrigerator, other audio, etc., it gets magnetized. If you keep the watch more than 10cm from the magnetic product, it will be almost unaffected. You also need attention to moisture and camphor, when you put away in a case. 時計を外して保管するときも、磁気の影響を受けない場所に保管するようにする。テレビや、冷蔵庫、そのほか、オーディオなどの上に置くと、磁気を帯びてしまう。磁気製品より10cm以上離しておけば、ほとんど影響を受けなくなる。 また、ケースなどにしまう場合には、湿気や樟脳などに注意が必要である。
