The watch industry of Swiss is well known internationally. Canton du Jura district including Canton de Neuchâtel is the center. Representative cities among them are La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. These two cities are officially registered in the World Heritage List under the name of "Watchmaking Industry and Urban Form". It is an industrial heritage that was evaluated for urban planning coupled with traditional watchmakers.
In particular, the townscape of La Chaux-de-Fonds is also designated as an important national cultural property of Switzerland and is also called "the imperial capital of watch."
