Yoshida watch shop.

Yoshida Shogoro established the Yoshida watch shop in 1901. They began manufacturing the clock as Toyo Clock Manufactory in 1920, and changed the name to Orient Watch Co., Ltd in 1951.
They made a clear distinction from other National makers in Japan, bought a market to the foreign countries and pushed forward an original route. But the condition of excess debt continued, and the TSE 2 was delisted. In 2009 they became a wholly owned subsidiary of Seiko Epson Corporation. They will be integrated into Seiko Epson in April 2017.


1901年に吉田庄五郎によって吉田時計店は創業した。1920年に東洋時計製作所として置時計の製造からはじめ、、1951年にはオリエント時計株式会社へと社名変更した。
他のナショナルメーカーとは一線を画し、海外へ市場を求め、独自の路線を進めた。しかしながら、債務超過の状態が続き、東証2部を上場廃止となり、2009年にはセイコーエプソン株式会社の完全子会社となった。2017年4月にはセイコーエプソンに統合の予定である。
